UNBROKEN PERFORMANCE TRAINING Vs. CrossFit™
NEW introductory post -- Forging Above Average Fitness for strength, health and longevity OUTSIDE OF THE GYM!

Unbroken Performance Training .com
After 10 years I finally quit CrossFit™ and became an independent endurance athlete and runner, ‘Hybrid Athlete’, if you want. That means I perform same training CrossFit™-coaches and CrossFit™-games athletes do(!) This is very different from how regular ‘cross-fitters’ train and has a very different purpose and goal!
My gym programming is 100% aimed at becoming fit for life outside of the gym. So I can improve on my my favorite sports activities but also be ready 24-7 to help with physical work, parenting and never use my ‘hard workout’ as an excuse to not show up when and where it matters. ALWAYS READY.
I coach and train guys utilizing “Open Gym” hours at 📍Fortitude Fitness = #FF in Salmon Creek (Vancouver, WA). We have tons of space and all kinds of equipment and weights to construct fun workouts. If you know me, you have an invitation to come join!
Open Gym = $50/m Vs. CF Class = $165/m 👈😮 >3X!!! 💸
UNBROKEN PERFORMANCE TRAINING Vs. CrossFit™ (CF)
CF — Coaches teach you to lift correctly and good technique 👍
UPT — I do coach in person but because I only program basic workout movements and skip outside-of-gym-useless-skills such as double-unders, ring muscle ups, pistols etc. my job is much easier and more fun. Almost everything I program has been part of your PT class in school. The rest: https://unbrokenperformancetraining.com/t/academy 🤙
CF — The open is coming + don’t you miss being part of the community?
UPT — Sorry, my community is not people who train just to be fit in a gym. When I started CF I connected with military, police, fire fighters, and even construction workers. (Oh, how I wish I had started working out earlier and avoided work related injuries as an airplane loader for 13 years.)
As CF moved away from Glassman and sound workout science - especially on strength programming, all real life heroes disappeared. The games athletes that dominate the open are not signed up on your noon class. They train like hybrid athletes and understand zone 2 training. I am not impressed with your annual ‘Open’ score. I am impressed how fast you can run up a mountain with a rock (Jayson Hopper is the real deal!) or how consistent you stick to a strength program and how much real speed and strength improvement you can show all year round because of disciplined training. SHOWING UP EVERY DAY IS WHAT COUNTS! I have built a community of strong independent athletes. Double-unders and ring muscle up are impressive but nothing more than party tricks in real life. Will I see you at the trailhead? How about a Spartan race?
CF — Anyone can join, workouts can be scaled… 👎
UPT — In CF only a handful can go ‘Rx’, the majority scale the workouts. So much they perform totally different workouts. This is the carrot for learning outside-of-gym-useless-skills and now focus more on performing inside the gym than outside of it. You have been deceived, brother!
If you can use same weights as me (10 years of CF) then you performed the workout Rx+, my goal is to program decent weights and movements as Rx. = ‘As prescribed’ for above average and neither for just elite or everyone.
CF — My box provides me with ‘professional programming’ 👎
UPT — Even as Hyrox, running and VO2 max knowledge has exploded in popularity, and modern Box-CF training has been abandoned by all elite athletes in the world, including CF coaches and games athletes😁, some people question my ‘expertise’. You program this yourself!? …Let me ask you about food! Which is much more important for your health and wellbeing than any workout. Do you decide yourself what to eat!? Do you plan what to cook without hiring an expert?
I see results of my training both in the gym and outside of it. And so does my followers. 💪

I love it. CrossFit got me into the gym scene consistently for the first time in my life, and for that I am very grateful. After 8 years of it I still enjoy the HIIT workout style, but no longer care about the clock or PR’s like I used to.
